Types of flowers in India
Flower Day takes place every year on the Sunday after Mother's Day. There are flowers popular because of their unique fragrance, beauty or both. Botanists estimate that there are more than 10000 species of flowering plants. There are about 1 million of flowers in the whole world.Here are some different types of flowers in India .
1.Indian lotus :
The lotus flower grows in muddy water and rises above the surface to bloom with remarkable beauty. Untouched by the impurity, lotus symbolizes the purity of heart and mind.
One who performs his duty without attachment, surrendering the results unto the Supreme Lord, is unaffected by sinful action, as the lotus is untouched by water.

Indian lotus also known as Nelumbo nucifera(ne lum bo nuci fera) ,simply lotus, is one species of aquatic plant. Lotus Is also called as water lily.Lotus is symbolic of purity of the body, speech, and mind as while rooted in the mud, its flowers blossom on long stalks as if floating above the muddy waters of attachment and desire. It is also symbolic of detachment as drops of water easily slide off its petals.
Lotus flower basically symbolizes the clarity of heart as well as the mind. Lotus flower represents strength,good luck, long life as well as honor and respect. Some scholars have even talked of the lotus flower being a universal representation of the spiritual presence in human lives.
2.Rose flower :
Rose is the most popular flower in the world followed by other flowers. “The flowersof the rose grow in many different colors, from the well-known red rose or yellow roses and sometimes white or purple roses usually associated with love."
A rose is a flowering plant and are over three hundred species they grow erect climbing, or trailing, with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles.
Pink roses are perfect for a new romance, or for sending extra love to friends, sisters and mothers onValentine's Day. White roses are the traditional flowers of weddings, making these blooms a symbol of young love. They further represent purity, innocence and truth.
The rose is considered a symbol of balance. The beauty of this flower expresses promise, hope, and new beginnings. It is contrasted by thorns symbolizing defense, loss, and thoughtlessness. A yellow rose symbolizes joy, protection against envious lovers, and a mature love.
3.Hibiscus flower :
Hibiscus means a perfect wife or woman. Giving a Hibiscus meant that the giver was Acknowledging the receiver's delicate beauty. Hibiscuses symbolize the fleeting and beauty of fame or personal glory.

Hibiscus tea is a herbal tea made . It is consumed both hot and cold. It has a tart, cranberry-like flavor.Side effects of hibiscus are uncommon but might include temporary stomach upset or pain, gas, constipation, nausea, painful urination, headache, ringing in the ears, or shakiness. Diabetes: Hibiscus might decrease blood sugar levels.Hibiscus tea has been known to prevent hypertension, lower blood pressure, reduce blood sugar levels, keep your liver healthy, help with menstrual cramps, help with depression,aid digestion and help with weight management. Its rich in Vitamin C, contains minerals such as flavonoids and has laxative properties.
It is very easy to make hibiscus tea; all you need is a pan, water, hibiscus flowers, and sugar or and INGREDIENTS - 2 tea spoons of dried hibiscus flowers,boiling water,cinnamon stick (optional),clove (optional),tea bag (optional).
4.Sunflower:
They follow the movement of the sun across the sky from east to west, and this process is known as heliotropism.Also know as “Helianthus annuus”, Mainly it is grown as a crop for its edible oil and edible fruits(in image the black portion) . This sunflower species is also used as bird food.
Sunflowers come in a number of varieties—ranging from small to very large, from having yellow petals to red. However, there is more to sunflowers than meets the eye. While they are stunningly beautiful, they also are rich in history and meaning. Sunflowers symbolize adoration, loyalty and longevity. Sunflowers also symbolize worship and faithfulness in various religions because of their resemblance to the sun, which is associated with spiritual knowledge and the desire to seek light and truth. The Incas usedsunflowers to symbolize the Sun God, and brought them to temples for worship.

5.Lilly flower:

Lilies are frequently associated with devotion, rebirth, motherhood and purity depending on the type of lily, culture and color. lilies are used as wedding flowers because they are considered to be good luck and will grant the couple 100 years .
some lilies boast a fragrance that will fill a room, but other varieties have little to no scent at all.
If you are one who has an aversion to strong-smelling flowers, but still love the presence of gorgeous blooms,lilies symbolize that the soul of the departed has received restored innocence after death.
6.Zinnia:
Zinnias are one of the easiest flowers to grow, as they grow quickly and bloom heavily. Zinnia flowers can create a Colorful environment.
Zinnias are popular garden flowersbecause they come in a wide range of flower colors and shapes, and they can withstand hot summer temperatures, and are easy to grow from seeds. They are grown in fertile, humus-rich, and well-drained soil, in an area with full sun.
Zinnia “means thoughts of friends, endurance, daily remembrance, goodness and lasting affection”is a plant of the sunflower tribe.

Dahlia:
Dahlias come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors. In fact, some dahlia varieties, such as the powder puff, produce a rainbow of flowers in shades ofrust, yellow, white, orange and purple.
Dahlia flower has a very long historical and cultural significance. Dahlia flower signifies commitment to another person and eternal love.
7.Indian Jasmine:
Indian jasmine commonly called Mogra is the most beautiful garden flowering plant in India, used for making perfumes, flavor Jasmine tea and Gajra.The flower is used to make medicine. Jasmine has been used for liver disease (hepatitis), liver pain due to cirrhosis, and abdominal pain due to severe diarrhea (dysentery). It is also used to cause relaxation (as a sedative), to heighten sexual desire (as an aphrodisiac), and in cancer treatment.
The jasmine flower is associated with love.Jasmine also symbolizes beauty and sensuality. In some cultures, Jasmine represents appreciation and good luck. When used in religious ceremonies jasmine represents purity. Jasmine's meanings varies depending on the culture and setting.While jasmines are best known for their aromaticscent, all jasmines are not fragrant. Other sweet- smelling jasmines, such as yellow starjasmine, are not true jasmines but are highly aromatic when flowering. Jasmine produces a sweet, rich fragrance when blooming.
It transmits messages to a region involved in controlling emotions and is said to help ease stress, anxiety, depression, fatigue, and even menstrual cramps and menopausal symptoms.

In India It is an age-old tradition to decorate couple's room with fresh fragrant, flowers for their first night or suhagraat.
